When I was packing I was very worried on what to bring. So here's a list of things I recommend bringing:
#1 Good Jacket-it actually gets pretty cold half of the time so its good to have.
#2 Good Camera- we get a lot of homework assignments where we need to take good quality pictures so I thought that was one of the most important purchases I made before the trip. (not phone pics)
#3 Shoes- boots, sandals, comfy sneaker, dressy shoes (I took one pair of heels and never wore them because it's really hard to walk on the uneven stone and steep hills in Genoa)
#4 Materials-ruler, pencil case, drawing pencils, eraser, xacto knife, cutting board, trace paper
#5 Debit Card-I recommend getting a Bank of America card because there are a lot of banks in Genoa and Europe that don't charge extra to take out cash. (dont forget to let your bank know you're leaving town)
#6 Phone- You can either take an unlocked phone and buy a SIM card there and pay as you go, or buy the cheapest phone (35 euro) and use it for emergencies.
